Removing non-consensual intimate imagery

If an intimate image of you was shared in Denly without your consent, tell us and we will take it down. This page is the process, start to finish.

If an intimate image of you was shared in Denly without your consent, email us and we will remove it. We publish this process because the TAKE IT DOWN Act requires it, and we follow it because it is the right way to handle these requests.

You do not need a lawyer, a subpoena, or a Denly subscription to use it.

Who can use this process

  • The person depicted in the image.
  • Someone authorized to act for that person — the parent or guardian of a depicted minor, a legal representative, or another agent acting on the depicted person’s behalf.

If you are acting for someone else, say who you are and what your authority is.

What to send

Email [email protected] with the subject line Removal request — intimate imagery, and include:

  1. A good-faith statement that the image depicts you — or the person you are acting for — and was shared without that person’s consent.
  2. Enough information for us to find it: the Den it was shared in, and the document title or the date it was added. Do not attach or re-send the image. We do not need a copy to act, and we would rather not receive one.
  3. Contact information — an email address, and a phone number if you want us to be able to call.
  4. Your signature, physical or electronic. Typing your full name at the end of the email is enough.

What we do

  • Acknowledge. We reply to confirm we have your request within 24 hours.
  • Remove. Within 48 hours of a valid request, we remove the depiction and any identical copies we can locate in Denly.
  • Confirm. We email you when the removal is done.
  • Preserve only what the law requires us to keep. Where a law or a valid preservation request obliges us to retain material, we retain the minimum required and it is no longer visible in the app.

What we can’t do

  • We can’t decide a dispute. This process removes a depiction. It is not a finding against anyone, and it does not resolve who was right.
  • We can’t act on an incomplete request. If something is missing, we will write back and ask for it. The 48-hour clock runs from a valid request.

Misuse of this process

Using this process to remove lawful content — an image that does not depict you, or one whose sharing you consented to — may violate the Denly Terms of Service and can lead to a warning, suspension, or the closing of a Den’s access.
